Since 1742 music lovers around the world have celebrated various interpretations, arrangements and performances of Handel’s Messiah. This Christmas season, the Living Arts Centre in Mississauga presents the Canadian premiere and only Canadian performances of Handel’s Messiah Rocks: A Joyful Noise, a new contemporary, rock n’ roll version of the famous oratorio on December 16 & 17, 2010.
Handel’s Messiah Rocks: A Joyful Noise features stunning visual effects, thrilling songs, an orchestra, rock band, Broadway soloists and specially selected local adult and children’s choirs.
Leading the cast of Handel’s Messiah Rocks: A Joyful Noise and performing the role of The Woman is Ramona Keller who made her Broadway debut in Smokey Joe’s Cafe as the understudy for BJ, Pattie and Brenda. She “originated” the roles of Radio 1, in Caroline, Or Change and Ms. Paradice, in Brooklyn: The Musical on Broadway. She was also featured in the musical revue In Time with Hugh Jackman in Las Vegas.
The role of The Baritone will be performed by recording artist Jeremiah Jones, who recently released his debut solo album Tupelo. His other roles include Billy Bigelow in the West End revival of Carousel, Curly in Oklahoma!, and Beast in the national tour of Beauty and the Beast.
The role of The Tenor will be performed by Matthew G. Myers who recently performed the New York City readings for Frank Wildhorn’s Wonderland. Some of his favorite credits include Simon Zealot in the national tour of Jesus Christ Superstar, Frank-n-Furter in Rocky Horror Picture Show and Frederick in Pirates of Penzance.

Handel’s Messiah Rocks: A Joyful Noise was adapted by Jason Howland and libretto adapted by Dani Davis is based on the original oratorio by George Frederick Handel with libretto by Charles Jennens. It is produced by NETworks Presentations, LLC and directed by Dani Davis.
The Canadian Premiere of Handel’s Messiah Rocks will be performed in Hammerson Hall at the Living Arts Centre on:
